Sunglasses Trend of 2009

Looking Large in 2009
Sunglasses will continue to be large in 2009, but not as goggle-sized as last year's. And the logo is a key design element; luxury brands and designer names are still important this year. Case in point, Christian Dior's Spring 2006 Black Thick Rimmed Sunglasses. They measure up at 6" width, 2" height, and 5" earpieces. They offer lots of coverage, but are not overpowering on the face. Choose them for a classic movie star look.

Color Changing Sunglasses

Color changing sunglasses are the next up-and-coming trend in sunglasses. With electrochromic polymer, scientists are developing sunglasses that have the ability to change levels of darkness and color in the presence of an electric current. All you will have to do it push a button on the frame, and the glasses will change into any color you want and can be adjusted to block different levels of the sun's rays.

The sunglasses will be powered with a watch battery that attaches to the frame. These glasses probably won't be on the market for another year or so as scientists are still perfecting them. Just imagine that some time in the future, we can buy one pair of sunglasses that matches every outfit!

Blinde Sunglasses
Blinde sunglasses are hand crafted and have a distinct look, setting them apart from other designer sunglasses and allowing you to be a trend-setter without conforming. The sunglasses are known for their sleek design and smooth curves.

The creator of Blinde sunglasses, Richard Walker, begins to design each pair of sunglasses in a 3D process, whereas other designers sketch their frame ideas on a piece of paper as a 2D image. The principal characters in each of the Matrix movies wore Blinde sunglasses, and Walker also designed the glasses that Angelina Jolie wore for her starring role in Tomb Raider.

If you're looking for sunglasses that are considered one of the hottest trends in luxury sunglasses today, but don't want to look like everyone else, consider Bline sunglasses.

Go Preppy!
The preppy look is back. And at the forefront of the trend is none other than Izod. They're not just responsible for the preppy polo shirts with the turned-up collars. Izod's in the sunglasses market, too! Izod 733 is a semi-rimless sunglass that features a thin metal brow bar, which graduates into a slender plastic temple. ANd since logos are everything, the famous Izod logo appears on the snap-in PVS nose pads and on the temples.

Color Your World
This season, it's okay to see the world through rose-colored glasses. Easily infuse your wardrobe with a little color by adding it to your sunglass frames! Try green, coral, fuchsia, pink and gold or look for colors mixed with different patterns and prints. Layer multiple colors such as black with lime green or teal.Designers like Calvin Klein, Christian Roth, and Esprit offer great selections.
